Programs

Together We Can Triumph!

Hands together

The Triumph Cancer Resource Center offers a variety of programs for cancer survivors and co-survivors from the moment of diagnosis through treatment and beyond.  Our goal is to provide people with the knowledge, resources and support they need to triumph over cancer not just in the long run, but also in their daily lives.

Our approach to achieving this goal combines four core focus areas-Survivorship Education, Social Networking, Nutrition, and Exercisewhile drawing from the power of peer support to encourage healthy habits, positive lifestyle changes and overall well-being.

Social Networking

In addition to networking opportunities through classes, Triumph CRC will also host regular networking groups and social events.  Programs are designed to connect local survivors, co-survivors and supporters in the community.  Networks range from niche groups for men and young survivors, to general interest groups and good neighbors that are ready to lend a helping hand.

Survivorship Education

Through survivorship education, we aim to raise awareness about local cancer resources, as well as the range of implications that cancer can have, not just for survivors and co-survivors, but also for health care providers and the community at large.  Programs and special guest workshops will address survivorship issues throughout the various stages and transitional phases in cancer care. The center also features a growing collection of resources, including information about local service providers, specialized educational materials from reputable national sources, and a library of books available for check-out.

Nutrition

Nutrition classes will promote healthy eating habits, while taking into account common dietary problems cancer patients face during and post-treatment.  Programs will address issues like vitamin and mineral deficiencies, taste/smell sensitivities, nausea and fatigue.  Information will incorporate dietary recommendations, basic food science, natural remedies and easy at-home recipes.

Exercise

Exercise programs will provide an emphasis on cultivating positive lifestyle changes through education, while reducing treatment-related side effects such as fatigue, nausea, stress and pain. Attention will also be given to retaining and/or regaining strength, cardiovascular fitness, range of motion and balance.  All exercise programs are overseen by trained cancer exercise specialists and proper medical clearance must be obtained in order to participate.
